Karis Holdings has carried out a Transport Assessment to ensure that the scheme links into the local transport infrastructure, provides sustainable transport solutions and does not cause a detrimental impact.

Public Transport

  • £1million contribution to sustainable transport system
  • New bus routes providing buses every 15 minutes linking to all areas of Brighton and Hove
  • Bus waiting room with integrated bus ticketing and taxi call point
  • Real time bus and train information displays

Car Club

  • Operated by CityCarClubs and linking into the existing network to create a citywide car club
  • Available to King Alfred residents and the existing local residential community
  • Provision of at least seven vehicles
  • Guaranteed support throughout the lifetime of the car club through funding from the residents of the new development
  • Membership will include insurance, tax, servicing and maintenance charges
    • Saving up to £1500 per annum compared to car ownership
  • New energy efficient vehicles with higher environmental standards

Cycling

  • Enhancement of the national cycle network route along the promenade to promote safety for cyclists and pedestrians
  • 628 secure cycle parking spaces within the car park
  • 157 cycle parking spaces adjacent to the sports centre and new piazzas

Pedestrians

  • Pedestrian friendly design
  • Safe dropping off and pick up point
  • Controlled crossing points across Kingsway providing safe pedestrian links to Hove Town Centre
  • Safe pedestrian routes through and around the development

Car Park

  • 174 secure car parking spaces for sports centre and public use
    • Including 12 disabled parking bays located close to main access points
    • Direct access to sports centre and new piazzas
  • 307 secure car parking spaces for residential development
    • Including 31 disabled parking bays to be located where required
    • Direct access to apartment blocks
