Proposals - £51 million* Contribution to Sport and Leisure
* Figure agreed with Brighton and Hove City Council includes £48.2 million cost of the Sports and Leisure Centre and £2.5 million contribution to new indoor bowls centre
The sports centre proposals have been highly praised and have not been revised.
The Sports Centre is the driver for the redevelopment and Karis Holdings will provide state of the art swimming and dry sports facilities that exceed the requirements set by Brighton and Hove City Council - the water areas are now 50% larger than the existing facilities.
All areas of the sports and leisure centre will be fully accessible to people with disabilities and will provide outstanding facilities:
Swimming
- 25 metre x eight lane competition pool with movable floor and panoramic views out to sea
- 20 metre swimming pool with moveable floor for flexible use and training purposes
- Leisure pool with fun water features and 'rain cloud' effect
- High quality showers and changing areas
- Located adjacent to the cafe to enable parents and carers to enjoy refreshments while supervising their children
Sport
- Eight badminton court size sports hall suitable for a range of sports including basketball, five-a-side football, badminton and volleyball

- Multi-purpose sports hall suitable for a range of sports and activities including table tennis, martial arts, fencing, under-five sessions and other events

£2.5 Million Pound Contribution to Off-Site Indoor Bowls Centre
An indoor bowls centre is a requirement of the sports centre brief and will be provided by Karis Holdings on an alternative site within Brighton and Hove. An area within Hove Park has now been identified by the Council and the new bowls centre will include the following facilities:
- Six bowling rinks
- Meeting rooms
- Bar and separate dining area
- Secure changing and storage areas for men and women
